What is Section 244ZA?

Section 244ZA of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 defines a category of serious offences that have different release rules. These are sometimes called "SDS+" sentences.

Under the Sentencing Act 2026, SDS+ sentences will have release at one-half (rather than two-thirds), while standard SDS sentences move to one-third release.

What is Section 250?

Section 250 of the Sentencing Code provides for detention of offenders under 18 convicted of serious Schedule 15 offences.

Unlike adult SDS+ sentences, Section 250 detention releases at one-half (50%) and is not changing under the Sentencing Act 2026.

Use the Section 250 filter above to see which offences are eligible.
