Licence Period

Also known as: “On licence” “Licence conditions”

The period after release from prison when you must follow certain conditions set by probation. This lasts until your sentence end date. Breaking licence conditions can result in recall to prison.

Probation

A court-ordered period of supervision in the community as an alternative to imprisonment. Managed by the Probation Service, it involves regular meetings and conditions.

Recall

The return to prison of an offender who has breached their licence conditions or whose behaviour suggests increased risk.
